Russia signals readiness to help modernise Libya's energy infrastructure
Russia's embassy in Libya has said Russian companies are ready to help modernise Libya's power generation plants, oil export terminals and refineries, provided there is genuine interest and concrete proposals from the Libyan side, the newspaper Izvestia reported.
Libya's investment minister, Ali al-Saidi al-Qaidi, has previously proposed Russian participation in building an oil refinery in Libya, a project Russia's Tatneft has shown interest in, according to the report.
In April, Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov announced the resumption of the joint Russian-Libyan intergovernmental committee after a 25-year suspension, beginning with a bilateral meeting between the two countries' relevant ministers.
