Armed Group Shuts Hamada Pipeline in Libya, Cutting Crude Supply to Zawiya Refinery
30 October 2026, 16:21 · 1 min read

An armed group has closed the valve on the main Hamada crude oil pipeline in the Riyayna area, Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said, cutting a key supply route to the Zawiya refinery.

The line connects the Hamada and Tahara fields to the refinery and is one of the main pipelines supplying it with the crude it needs for refining operations.

The NOC said the sudden, forced closure caused a sharp rise in operating pressure, forcing technical crews to halt pumping through the line from 12:30am. Crude supplies from the fields linked to the pipeline have been disrupted, with around 15,000 barrels a day lost from the volumes allocated to the Zawiya refinery.

The corporation said the closure poses a direct threat to the safety of oil facilities and to the continuity of crude supplies to the refinery, with negative consequences for Libya’s national economy.
